A Happy Valley man has been sentenced to prison for a carjacking he committed against his own mother. On July 6th Jeannie Cole called deputies to her home on Setting Son Drive in Happy Valley. She had been trying to get her son, 35-year-old Jason Thompson, into a treatment program for his longtime drug and alcohol problem. He refused a hit her, then pushed her out of her pickup truck and stole it. She told deputies that her son appeared to be on Methamphetamine. About 2 hours later a deputy spotted the pickup near the intersection of Canyon Road and Highway 273. It was stopped in a nearby parking lot and Thompson was arrested for car jacking, auto theft and driving on a suspended license. His criminal history includes felony evading police and 4 DUI convictions. He was sentenced Thursday to 5 years in state prison.
