A drug bust Wednesday morning was done as the suspect was on his way to an appointment with his probation officer. Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force Agents had followed 36-year-old Jonathan Stephen Melfa from his home on Douglas Street in Anderson and stopped his Volvo SUV at the intersection of Shasta and Market Streets in Downtown Redding. Melfa is on probation for possession of methamphetamine for sale. Agents say they found 16 grams of meth in his vehicle’s center console, along with a pipe. He was then taken to his home as agents did a search there. Melfa’s girlfriend, 34-year-old Evadne Tyreebake was there with her 4-year-old child. Agents say they found a small amount of meth and a half-pound of marijuana within reach of the child. The child was later released to a responsible family member. More than two pounds of meth was reportedly found stashed within the body of a functioning washing machine in the laundry room. Agents also reported finding 2300 Dollars cash in the bedroom. Melfa is being held without bail.
