Two missing men were found safe and in good health on Wednesday. Friends and family became concerned when Jason Gibson and Charles Gregston did not return home from a planned hunting trip near Viola. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team was dispatched along with volunteer snow mobile and jeep teams. They were located after one of the men was able to hike to an area with cell phone reception and contact his father in-law. They were found near Viola Meadow Road and told searchers their Jeep had become stuck in the snow and due to darkness and bad weather they were forced to sleep in the vehicle. They were reunited with their families at Eskimo Hill Snow Park nearby. The sheriff’s office is reminding anyone headed to the higher elevations to prepare for winter conditions and always let someone know when you are scheduled to return.
