A fire is burning in the rolling hills of Southwestern Shasta County. The vegetation fire is off of Platina Road 12 miles west of Ono and 3 miles west of the Graves Ranch between Ono and Platina. There was a structure threatened Tuesday, but that danger was averted by firefighters. As of Tuesday night the forward progress had been halted with an estimated size of 21 acres with 50% containment. A Cal-Fire spokesperson tells us the blaze had been heading uphill with a light wind behind it in the afternoon but it reached a ridgeline and slowed considerably. The cause is unknown at this time.
