An investigation is underway into the death of a man at a Trinity County lake. A little before 6 o’clock Sunday evening a 911 call was made reporting that a boat was delivering 38-year-old John William Vayo to the recreational dock at Ruth Lake. The Arcata man was unresponsive and not breathing when Trinity County deputies got there. Lifesaving efforts were attempted but they were too late. Witnesses told deputies that Vayo had been wakeboarding when something happened and he was unresponsive when his companions pulled him from the water.
