Man Allegedly Assaults Rescue Mission Employee

An employee of the Good News Rescue Mission was beaten by a man who had previously been turned away, according to Redding Police. 29-year-old Martin Dalbec had been denied services due to making threats and causing disturbances at the mission. At 8:45AM Friday morning Dalbec had returned and was reportedly causing trouble in the dining hall. The supervisor of the dining facility, 44-year-old Jim Hall, and another employee escorted Dalbec out into the alley to have a word with him and calm him down. Dalbec allegedly knocked hall to the ground and started kicking him in the head repeatedly. Witnesses called for help as Dalbec fled the scene. Hall suffered serious scrapes and bruises to his face and eyes and was treated at a hospital. He also said his wallet was missing. Dalbec was found within a half-hour at South City Park and arrested, though he didn’t have hall’s wallet with him. He’s on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into jail for robbery and battery causing serious injury.
