A house in East Redding was damaged by a fire that apparently originated with discarded fireplace ashes. Redding Firefighters responded late Monday morning to a house on 2nd Avenue. The fire burned an outside wall and got into the attic. Firefighters opened up the roof of the house to extinguish the attic fire. Nobody was home at the time. Battalion Chief Sean Coleman estimates the damage at around $25,000.
