Shasta County Sheriff’s detectives are trying to track the movements and activities of a murder suspect in the days that led up to his alleged crime. At 12:30PM Saturday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies were called by family members of 77-year-old William Robert Humphries after they found him dead at his home on Gaucho Road, which is off Boyle near Old Alturas. The sheriff’s office says Bill Humphries had been shot multiple times. He was found in the home with several guns nearby and evidence of an altercation. There was a dead dog in the front yard. As the sheriff’s office began an investigation, Redding Police were called to Dune Street to speak with 33-year-old Chance Locken. He told officers he had awakened in an unfamiliar home near a dead man who had been shot. The two agencies were soon in contact and concluded that it was the same incident. Locken is in jail charged with murder. Anyone who knows of his recent activities is urged to call 245-6135 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
