A large luxury home in Palo Cedro was destroyed by fire Thursday morning, with strong south winds fanning the flames. Multiple 911 callers reported the fire just after 6:30 at the end of a long driveway off the east side of Deschutes Road about a quarter mile south of Boyle Road. Arriving firefighters reported the 3000 square foot two story house fully involved with fire. CalFire Battalion Chief Brian Noel says that the southern exposure of the hilltop house was directly in the path of strong gusty winds. The house was a complete loss. Noel says it didn’t appear that anybody was living there. He didn’t have an estimate on the value. The cause is still being investigated. CalFire and Palo Cedro volunteers were assisted by firefighters from Millville, Mountain Gate and Cottonwood.
