Man Sentenced To 3 Consecutive Life Sentences For Murdering Children

A Salinas man has received his sentence for the torture and murder of two young children whose bodies were found in Redding. In December of 2015 the bodies of 3-year-old Delylah Tara and 6-year-old Shaun Tara were found stuffed into a plastic tote in a rented unit of an East Redding mini storage. The children had died at the abusive hands of 42-year-old Tami Huntsman and her then-17-year-old boyfriend, Gonzalo Curiel. The children died in Salinas on Thanksgiving Day of 2015. Huntsman avoided the death penalty by entering a guilty plea to murder and torture. She was sentenced in May to life in prison without the possibility of parole or appeal. Curiel’s trial was held in April and it only took an hour for a jury to return guilty verdicts on all counts. He can’t be given a death penalty because he was only 17 when the crimes were committed. He’s been sentenced to three consecutive life terms.
