Felon Seeking Pardon Found With 39 Guns

A Mount Shasta man drew attention to himself when he tried to clear his name, making himself a target in a federal firearms sweep. In April of last year, 60-year-old Daniel Andrew Walker filed a petition for certificate of rehabilitation, which would seek a court recommendation for a retroactive pardon of his prior multiple felonies, which include convictions for domestic violence. The application included a questionnaire in which Walker stated he didn’t possess any guns. The Siskiyou County D.A.’s Office investigated and found information to the contrary, and a search warrant was served at Walker’s home in Mount Shasta City. The Siskiyou County D.A. and Sheriff’s Office, along with state and federal officers, reported finding 39 guns, including 10 without serial numbers, six short-barreled AR-style rifles, multiple shotguns and handguns and an improvised silencer. Walker was indicted Thursday on federal charges of being a felon with guns and could face up to 10 years in federal prison.
