Man Arrested After Admitting To Hit-&-Run That Left Teen Injured

An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run of a teenager on December 13th. At 3 O’clock that afternoon the 15-year-old boy was walking home from school, and was on the sidewalk on North Court Street when a pickup truck jumped the curb and struck the boy, leaving him lying on the roadside badly injured. He suffered a broken leg, facial injuries and other injuries that have required multiple surgeries. He’s recovering at home. Surveillance photos were released showing the suspect vehicle and during the course of the investigation Redding Police narrowed in on 49-year-old Terry Bessey. At 1:18AM Monday morning Bessey was reported to be near Buenaventura and Placer. Officers arrived to find him with his pickup. During questioning Bessey reportedly admitted to the hit-and-run and said he had removed the toolbox and broken side view mirror from his truck to make it less recognizable. He showed investigators where he had left those items. Bessey has been booked for felony hit and run.
