Wednesday Update: No New Cases Of COVID-19 Reported In 7 Days

It’s been a full week since a new case of COVID-19 was reported in Shasta County. The total number of confirmed cases is 31. Four people have died from Coronavirus in Shasta County. Three people are still sick and in isolation, one of them hospitalized. Five people are quarantined due to possible exposure. There have been 1,634 people who have tested negative so far.

Public Health Officer Doctor Karen Ramstrom is working on completing the self-certification the state requires to move into phase two this Friday and allow some businesses to open and some people to go back to work. Tools for businesses are at shastaready.org.

A Covid testing station at Shasta College is testing health care workers and other essential workers who are showing no symptoms. There’s no estimate yet on when the non-symptomatic testing will be opened up to the general public.

Those with symptoms of COVID-19, which include cough, fever and difficulty breathing, should still contact their healthcare provider or public health at 225-5591.

Tehama County’s only confirmed Coronavirus patient has died. Butte County has had 18 cases. Siskiyou County has had 5, but all have recovered. Glenn County has had 5. There have been 54 cases in Humboldt County. There are still none reported in Trinity, Lassen or Modoc Counties.
