Changes in the electric industry are causing the Redding Electric Utility to merge it’s I.T. and cyber security departments, which had operated separately until now. Under a proposal put forth by REU Director Dan Beans, I.T. workers within the city will be receiving an 11 to 22% raise depending on the classification. There will also be a new position added: a cyber security officer who will oversee all communication with outside system operators. System upgrades will also be needed.
The Redding City Council voted Tuesday night to raise the wage for apprentice firefighters after 8 of the 12 hired last year left for other positions. The new wage will be $20.55 per hour.
