Lassen County Wildfires Continue To Grow

Some rain has helped the battle against the Hog Fire, burning about 5 miles west of Susanville. The Hog Fire started Saturday afternoon near Hog Flat Reservoir and has burned more 9,517 acres with 26% containment. Hundreds of structures are threatened as many evacuations remain in effect. Highway 44 and Highway 36 are closed. The fire has also destroyed a key fiber optic line, cutting off communications for much of Susanville and Cal-Fire Headquarters.

A fire that was first detected on Monday in Lassen County has grown to 14,500 acres, now with 15% containment. The Gold Fire is located south of Adin near Highway 139, which is now closed. Many homes and ranches are threatened and a number of evacuations remain in effect from the Gold Fire. 2 firefighters suffered serious burns Monday afternoon when they were overtaken by the flames and had to deploy an emergency shelter.
