Embers from a house fire in Lewiston Monday night quickly ignited a neighboring home as well, according to the Trinity Journal. The fire apparently started at a mobile home on Brown’s Mountain Road, fully engulfing the structure and producing a lot of airborne material that drifted to a nearby two-story house. The fire at the second structure was complicated by a large propane tank that off-gassed and fed the flames. A detached garage was also destroyed, and about an acre of vegetation burned. The ground engines were assisted by water drops from a Cal-Fire helicopter, but it still took about an hour to contain the fire.
