Shasta County Nears 200 COVID-19 Deaths

New cases of COVID-19 continue to drop locally, but people are still dying. Another 2 Shasta County residents have died to bring the total to 194. The latest fatalities were a man in his 70s and a man in his 80s. No new cases were reported from Sunday and 21 were reported from Monday, along with 335 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 11,158. An estimated 106 people have the virus right now, 8 of them hospitalized and 2 in intensive care. Shasta County’s daily case rate has dropped from 5.9 to 5 per 100,000 residents.

Tehama County has reported 5,180 cases and 53 deaths.
There have been 378 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,837 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 14 deaths.
Butte County has reported 171 deaths among their 10,937 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,034 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,597 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,383 cases and 34 deaths.
Modoc County has had 464 cases and 4 deaths.

More than 22 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed across the U.S. in the next week.
