Shasta County Superintendent of Schools Judy Flores wants parents to be aware of the unfolding situation for state-imposed Covid rules. The Governor’s plan as it now stands provides for a “personal belief exemption” that allows students to opt out of Covid vaccination requirements when school starts next Fall. In November, Flores sent a letter signed by 21 district superintendents from around the county that urged the Governor to keep the exemption in place. Since then, three separate bills have been introduced in the state legislature that would increase the requirements for vaccination. As of yet, none of them have made it to the floor for votes. Flores wants to stress that schools are required to abide by any mandate from the state or their funding will be revoked.
