Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month launches Friday with a plea for everyone to wear blue. Pathways to Hope for Children is asking people to post their blue-clad photos on social media to spread the message and tag them with #capmonth #wearblue4kids #100hopegivers #hopeshasta. Starting at 5:30PM Friday afternoon Pathways to Hope will host a community resource fair at the Sundial Bridge, which will be lit up blue for the occasion. The first 50 families will receive a free pinwheel garden, commemorative bag and display sign. Social isolation during the pandemic masked a spike in child abuse cases in Shasta County. Even before that, Shasta County’s substantiated cases of child abuse per capita tripled the state average. Pathways to Hope will host various events during the month, with info at hopeshasta.org.
