Redding Rancheria may regain the approval of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors in their campaign to relocate Win-River Casino. The tribe has been working on a plan to build a much larger casino, hotel and entertainment complex on 232 acres of land between Interstate 5 and the Sacramento River just south of South Bonneyview Road. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, under the Interior Department, is the agency that will make the final decision and would hold the land in trust for the tribe. Both the Redding City Council and the Shasta County Board of Supervisors have stated their opposition to the project. On Tuesday the board will discuss the pros and cons of the project and decide whether to send another letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to state their support, restate their opposition or to take a neutral stance.
