A motorcyclist was severely injured in a hit-and-run crash in Trinity County on Tuesday afternoon. Just after 3 O’clock, the male driver of a 1987 Toyota was westbound on Highway 299 when he turned left toward the Salyer Store parking lot. He turned directly into the path of a 1970 Honda motorcycle ridden by 75-year-old Jaques Loren of Salyer. Loren tried to brake but there was no time and he crashed into the right side of the Toyota and was ejected. The Toyota driver abandoned the car he was driving and was seen getting into a white Toyota FJ Cruiser that left eastbound. Loren was taken to a Humboldt County hospital with major injuries. Witnesses or anyone with information about the driver are urged to call the CHP at 623-3832.
